Alita was rescued from the street only to be abandoned again in a hoarding situation. Her current fosters found her at an overcrowded shelter hiding under a table, heavily pregnantand covered in mange. Because she didn’t cause a fuss she had been basically forgotten. Once at the vets, it became apparent that she was unlikely to survive the imminent birth; she didn’t even have a name.
Luckily she was sprung just in the nick of time, she was spayed, taken into proper care, survived, endured multiple treatments, and ultimately thrived.
We named her Alita (little wings) for many reasons, one of which is because her ears look like little wings and she’s got the angel personality to match it. Alita is super affectionate and sweet, she loves her food and cuddles, snuggles and snacks. She can be shy with strangers, unless treats. Then once she knows you are alright she will really show you she loves you. She is a low-maintenance dog and is happy to entertain herself whilst you’re at work, she is very used to crate rest from recovering from heartworm treatment and finds her crate comforting to hang out in.
She would be the perfect solo best friend or second dog, not because she doesn’t deserve to be the first dog, but because she makes every dog feel so comfortable and plays well with other dogs, children and basically anyone.
To add to the horrible story of Alitas past-life she has scars on her face from what was probably a machete, but she doesn’t have any reactivity and loves being fussed over. She walks well on a lead and finds comfort in her persona. She’s a simple girl really, easy going and low-maintenance and desperate for a home where she is safe and important and loved.
